It has come to the attention of DOH CHD MIMAROPA that there has been a recent ambush of healthcare workers in Palawan that occurred on August 1, 2020. While on their way back to Dumaran, their ambulance was waylaid by unidentified armed men past 3pm, resulting to one fatality and three more injured health care workers.
With much grief, we at DOH CHD MIMAROPA would like to extend our deepest condolences to the bereaved family. Our thoughts and prayers are with you during this time of sorrow.
This gruesome incident is a huge affront to our already overwhelmed health care system so we strongly demand for justice. These past few months have already been tough for our healthcare workforce, not to mention the emotional, physical, and mental stress they have been through since the battle against COVID-19 began. Despite the danger and risk, they remained faithful to their sworn duties.
This pandemic continues to cripple the nation particularly our health care workers who are experiencing the most difficulty in these challenging times. They certainly do not deserve injustices such as this.
DOH CHD MIMAROPA firmly condemns all acts of violence perpetrated against our comrades-in-arms in the medical field. In the midst of all the difficulties that continuously scourge our health care system, they need our utmost support, respect, and prayers now more than ever.
