FILARIASIS

  • A disease caused by a parasite called WUCHERERIA BANCROFTI and BRUGIA MALAYI.
  • Transmitted thru a bite of femlae infected mosquito.

  • Romblon  – 2010
  • Marinduque  – 2012
  • Oriental Mindoro  – 2013
  • Occidental Mindoro  – 2015
  • Palawan  – 2015

 ASYMPTOMATIC STAGE

  • Presence of MF in the blood
  • No clinical signs and symptoms
  • My progress to acute and chronic stage
  • Men have higher MF rate than women

ACUTE STAGE

  • Starts when there are manifestations:
  • Recurrent fever
  • Lymphadenitis
  • Lymphangitis
  • Funculitis, Epididimytis, Orchitis

CHRONIC STAGE

  • Develop 5-15 years after death of adult filarial parasites
  • Microfilaria usually absent in the blood
  • Hydrocoele
  • Lymphedema
  • Elephantiasis
  • Chyluria

  • Apply Ointment
